Course: LAW4110

Human resources professionals play a critical role in ensuring workplace decisions align with legal standards. Understanding legal frameworks helps reduce organizational risk, promotes fairness and supports ethical HR practices. Students explore key federal and provincial legislation including the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Pay Equity Act, and Workplace Safety and Insurance Act. Students examine how these laws apply to core HR functions including recruitment, compensation, health & safety, discipline and termination. Students also explore emerging legal trends and their impact on HR decision making. Through case studies and legal analysis, students interpret legislation, evaluate workplace policies and provide recommendations to ensure compliance.
