Complex information technology systems require extensive planning, analysis, and design. Guided by the industry standards and software engineering methodologies, students gain hands-on experience with case studies used to develop systems from inception through elaboration. Object-oriented design, modeling tools and techniques are used to produce system specifications. Project management principles are applied to develop team-based projects. Software methodologies discussed include traditional Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile approach, Rational Unified Process (RUP), Joint Application Development (JAD), and Rapid Application Development (RAD).
