To promote employee well-being and organizational compliance, HR professionals must understand and apply occupational health and safety principles within a framework of shared responsibilities. Students examine key aspects of occupational health and safety in Ontario, with emphasis on the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the role of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. Students explore workplace hazard identification, risk assessment and incident investigation practices. Emphasis is placed on regulatory compliance and employee wellness within the context of legal and ethical responsibilities. Through case studies and practical activities, students develop an understanding of safe and healthy workplace standards and best practices.
